Police intensify area domination and combing operations in Karimnagar district
Suspected Maoists, who have retreated into the neighbouring Chhattisgarh following the police presence, are again on a comeback trail, and moving in the Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal (KKW) region. After the incident of the Maoists in Tadvai of Warangal district torching a jeep and forest guesthouse, the intelligence sources say that the naxalites are on the prowl and are eager to come back with a vengeance.
Majority of naxalites from Chhattisgarh have already intruded into the Karimnagar district by crossing the Godavari in Mahadevpur mandal of Manthani revenue division. Stating that the Maoists Action Team members have committed the offence in Tadwai region, the sources said that several action team members belonging to Chhattisgarh are moving in the district.
Since last several years, the Maoists from Chhattisgarh intruded into the district and are working in construction industry, hotels and other private works. The arrest of Masaki Adma, Maoist deputy commander of Chhattisgarh, by Husnabad police a year ago was an indication in this regard.
Adma was working at a construction site of an irrigation canal and was collecting gelatine sticks and handing them over to the Maoists.
Sources said that the Maoists Action Team members earlier used to take the support of a local guide to commit an offence.
As there are chances of the local guide being exposed, the action team members are moving on their own and waiting for an opportunity to commit a major offence, they added.
With the State Government proposing to construct major irrigation projects across the Godavari at Medigadda and Annaram in the Mahadevpur region adjoining Chhattisgarh, the district police have sounded an alert and written to the government for the opening up of police stations at Medigadda (Ambetpalli) and Kaleshwaram temple shrine. It was also decided to open an outpost with Central paramilitary forces at Medigadda to start the construction of major irrigation projects.
Following the Tadwai incident, the Karimnagar district police have stepped up their vigil and surveillance of all vital installations in the district and also fortified the police stations. The police had also intensified their area domination and combing operations, and have taken steps to protect the bridge across the Godavari connecting Maharashtra with Kaleshwaram temple shrine.
