One Jawan killed, five injured in Gadchiroli Naxal firing One police jawan was killed and five were seriously injured when the Maoists opened fire on a police team in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Friday. The incident took place when a team of Jimalgatta police station, was rescuing the polling party of Dambrancha polling booth at around 1 pm, said Gadchiroli police. “Police team retaliated the fire and reinforcement was sent immediately, but the Maoists managed to escape taking advantage of thick forest.
Police constable Giridhar Atram was killed in the firing and five Jawans were injured. The injured were airlifted and sent to Nagpur for further treatment” informed Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Suvez Haque in a press statement. IMPHAL, April 10: The Maoist Communist Party, Manipur has claimed in a press statement that the IED recovered by the police on April 9 along the National Highway 37 about 200 meters far from the residence of sitting MP and Congress candidate for Inner Manipur constituency, Dr Th Meinya, and further said that the IED was equipped with 3 kg of nails, 300 gm of explosive and remote control device.
Misuse of the MP Local Area Development Fund for last the last ten years and also opposing to their Political Strike were given as reasons for the IED plant, it said in the release and added the Party has called a General Strike against the misuse of MP Fund by the sitting MP Dr Th Meinya on April 16 starting from 5 am to 5 pm.
The release further said that the Services of Fire, Water, Medical and also media will not be covered by the General Strike.
Despite this, the release also mentioned of the Congress Party’s role for sowing seeds to disintegrate Manipur by signing as Naga Integration Agreement and further charged that the Congress Party also decided in 1949 on October 4 to enter the people of India freely in the state of Manipur, it said in the press release.
It also further charged that the same Congress Party had resolved in a meeting held on April 29, 1949 to be annexed Manipur by India following which the then king of Manipur was asked to visit to Shillong and forced the king to sign Merger Agreement, it said.

2 CRPF jawans killed in suspected Naxal attack on polling day Bihar Patna: Two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and four others injured in a landmine blast in Bihar early this morning. The blast took place between Jamui, where voting is being held in the third phase of Lok Sabha election, and Munger. The blast took place at around 4 am this morning when the jeep of the CRPF personnel, who were on patrolling duty, was blown up. The injured jawans have been rushed to Munger. Two CRPF men injured in Naxal blast in Raipur Naxals carried out two powerful blasts in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, injuring two CRPF personnel, on April 9. The blast comes a day before Lok Sabha polls in the area. According to preliminary information, a patrol squad of the force was on a operational task when two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts occurred in the forests of Bijapur near Gangloor village. “The blasts were powerful and few personnel were feared to have been hit by shrapnels of the improvised bomb,” a senior official said. 3 CRPF personnel killed in Naxal attack in Sukma Sukma: Three personnel of Cobra force of Central Reserved Police Force were killed in an encounter with Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. In the first incident that occurred in Sukma district, Naxals opened heavy fire on a patrol of the specialised anti-Naxal operations force CoBRA that was coming back after escorting a polling party which has reached the Naxal stronghold as part of the polls scheduled on Thursday. Officials said a strong squad of about 100 Naxals surrounded the party from three sides, leading to the killing of three commandos while three others were injured. “The troops were hit on the back.
They were killed as they received bullet injuries while on their way back,” a senior official said. The incident comes at a time when the forces are at their maximum alert. A joint column of CRPF, state police and commandos on a helicopter have been launched in the area, the official said, adding a “cordon and search” operation has been launched. “We are alive to every possibility and we will conduct the polls peacefully,” a senior security official monitoring the security forces deployment in Delhi said. Q: The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the 16th Loksabha elections and doing all preparations on war footing to conduct these elections and every electoral party and alliance is completely engaged in deciding on whom to send into the ring. What is your party’s stand on various parties and alliances contesting in these elections? Do you welcome the NOTA option?
A: As five years have been completed since the 15th Loksabha has been formed, these elections are being conducted as a routine exercise to form the 16th Loksabha. The schedule for these elections is the longest in the parliamentary history of India. Continue reading →
