CPI (Maoist): Absolutely responsibility lies with the Central government for the Terrible Railway accident in Bahanaga bazaar of Balasore district in Odisha

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) conveys deep condolences to the friends and
relatives of the above 280 passengers in Coromandel Express that had a terrible, the biggest accident in the history of
Indian Railways in Bahanaga bazaar in Balasore district of Odisha on 2nd June 2023. It expresses deep sympathy
towards the more than 1100 injured persons and hopes that they would overcome their pain soon. It is understood
that a greater number of people might have died and been injured in the accident. The CC states that the reason for
the accident is the anti-people, pro-imperialist, pro-corporate policies of the Brahmanic Hindutva Fascist BJP Central
government and calls upon the people of the country to fight for the resignation of Prime Minister Modi and Railway
Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. It also states that we cannot prevent such accidents in future without unitedly fight back
these policies.
The Modi government readily provides all kinds of facilities to the political leaders and higher officials injured
in attacks or accidents and immediately shifts them to super specialty hospitals in big cities in special helicopters. Their
families are extended all kinds of help for their last rites and treatment. But in case of the ordinary people in this
Railway accident it is taking up apparent measures. It possesses digital information system but does not pass
information to the friends and relatives of the affected eagerly. It formally arranged phone numbers and nothing else.
The people are thrown in a desperate situation to go to the place of the accident on their own expenditure and are at
the mercy of the officers to know information about their kin.
Prime Minister visited Odisha. He held a meeting with the officers and stated mere words of consolation that
they would take stringent action on those responsible for the accident. In fact, the distorted model of development of
the Modi government that sheerly neglects people’s interests, causing them much harm and serves those of the
corporate companies such as Adani, Ambani and TATA caused the accident. The government is spending lakhs and
crores of rupees in their interests and constructing high speed, super express and bullet trains and making grand
inaugurations. But it does not establish the necessary modern railing, signaling and safety measures at the same level.
This appears to be an accident but is nothing but a massacre on the people by the government. Such dangers cannot
be prevented in future by superficial correction of the shortcomings in Railway system.
The Morbi bridge accident in Gujarat, the native state of the Prime Minister of the country last year is an
example to say that the ‘Atmanirbhar’ scheme of the Modi government that relies on foreign technology is nothing
but a scheme that makes the country dependent. Modi continued with his priorly decided program in spite of severe
protest from the people towards this incident. This nakedly shows the anti-people nature of the Brahmanic Hindutva
Fascists.
The conspiracy to privatise Indian Railways is also behind in this negligent, irresponsible attitude of the
government. The CC of our Party appeals to progressive, democratic, patriotic scientists, economists and intellectuals
to analyse this anti-people development model and place its real character before the people. It calls upon the entire
oppressed people, people of the oppressed social sections and nationalities to come forth and fight unitedly against
these anti-people policies to save the country from the corporate forces and the exploitive, ruling classes of the
country that are serving them.
