“I was born in the party”: Women in Maoist Ranks

comment by IDSA – Institute for Defence Studies

Kursenga_KutibaiKursenga Motibai alias Radhakka, the first woman in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana to join the ranks of the Naxalites of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), or Maoists in short, was enlarged on bail on December 12, 2015. A Gond tribal woman from Adilabad district, Telangana State, she was underground for 28 years and was the Bastar Divisional Committee Secretary at the time of her arrest in Khammam district. As the Maoists have themselves admitted in an internal document, not many women have been able to rise to leadership positions. Radhakka is one of those exceptions. A more striking exception is Anuradha Ghandy, who was a member of the apex and all-powerful Central Committee. Continue reading

A call to the people to fight back the new form of salva judum and the supportive organization of greenhunt, salva judum-2- CPI(Maoist) DKSZC press release

150506-DK-OnSalwaJudum-2-EngA call to the people to fight back the new form of salva judum and the supportive organization of greenhunt, salva judum-2

The son of Mahendra Karma who died in the Jeeramghati ambush in the hands of PLGA, Chavindra karma and one of the gang leaders of first salva judum and goonda Chaitram Attami and others announced on the 5th of May that they would start salva judum- 2 for ‘peace’ and ‘development’ of Bastar and also formed ‘Vikas Sangharsh Samiti’. This salva judum-2 is nothing but a hindutva fascist BJP government sponsored murderous goonda gangster organization formed by the Congress Karma family and the goondas of BJP and anti people elements. In fact it is a new form of salva judum and a supportive organisation to greenhunt. The first jan jagaran, salva judum, greenhunt and now salva judum-2, all these abhiyans are actually campaigns to repress the people. Continue reading

Press Release CPI(Maoist) – DKSZC 3 May 2015

Boycott the visit of Modi, the Prime Servant of CBB and MNCs to Chathisgarh
Communist Party of India (Maoist) strongly protests the visit of prime minister of India Narendra Modi to Chathisgarh on the 9th of May 2015. We appeal to all the people of the state, democrats, progressive persons, patriots, workers and peasants, adivasi and non adivasi social organisations to protest this visit which is intended only to sign certain MoUs in a bid to sell away the natural resources of the state to big corporate companies. We appeal to take up all sorts of protest demonstrations like chakkajam, burning of effigies of Ramansingh and Modi. This boycot would be a symbol of struggle of the toiling masses, especially peasants and the adivasis for survival and identity and to protect the jal jungle and zameen and the mineral resources of the state. Telangana Maoists meet near Khammam

Telangana-naxals_0Hyderabad: The CPI Maoists’ first Telangana state committee meeting has given the cops a big headache. Anti-Naxal intelligence sleuths of the Telangana state police have confirmed that the Telangana Maoist plenary was conducted recently, in which Vepa Narayana, alias Haribhushan, has been elected as state secretary. The police said the meeting was not conducted in Khammam, as claimed by the Maoists. It was instead held in Chhattisgarh, bordering Khammam district. The cops said that no big leader from central committee attended the meet. Continue reading

Surjagarh project would destroy villages, say Maoists

ETAPALLI (Gadchiroli): A section of top guerrilla leaders of Western regional committee of South Gadchiroli division, during a marathon meeting with the scribes at an undisclosed location on Chhattisgarh border last week, claimed that exploitation of irone ore in Surjagarh hills would bring irreparable adverse consequences on the adjoining villages. The Naxal leaders, whose media interaction also saw them appeal to Gadchiroli police’s C-60 commandos not to fight against fellow tribals, claimed that government’s compensation schemes would remain only on paper for Surjagarh project like they have at other places.
“If prime minister Narendra Modi-led government is promising Rs 15 lakh in each citizen’s account, then where is the need to lure the tribal with benefits from the projects on Surjagarh hills? Can government compensate the irretrievably damaged natural resources of the place,” asked a senior Naxalite leader of South Gadchiroli division. “The party (banned Communist party of India-Maoist) opposes the project,” said the senior cadre putting to rest the speculation regarding the Naxals’ stand on the mining and steel making project that has failed to take off so far. “State government’s ploy to set up police posts is part of the providing blanket security and meant to ensure that the natural resources of the region could be plundered by the corporate bodies. Gadchiroli is seeing a rising trend of setting up police posts and camps to ensure more capitalists projects are started here,” said the senior cadre.
The party has also strongly condemned the government’s decision to ban cow-slaughter as one that goes against tradition of eating beef among that has continued through generations. “Beef is the cheapest form of meat consumed by a economically weaker population and also formed means of livelihood for many who are now left without income,” said a senior leader talking to the media. The Naxals also sounded their opposition against tobacco and consumption of alcohol. These substances were destroying families along with the addicted member, said the rebel leader. “Party is against all sorts of contraband and tobacco products,” he said. The Naxal cadres also made a point to hit out at Modi-led central and Devendra Fadnavis-led state governments. “A sizable number of elected representatives of BJP are facing different criminal and corruption charges. What can be expected from such a legislative wing,” asked the senior cadre.
