Last Wednesday, a court in Sasaram (Bihar) sentenced four suspected Maoists to life imprisonment for the murder of a civil servant 15 years ago. In this case, the number of convicted persons in this case amounted to seven. In 2004, two other alleged Maoists were sentenced to life imprisonment for killing the official. Four others are still being prosecuted and detained pending trial. Ten of the 21 persons identified by the authorities as part of their investigation are still being sought.
