Police claim Hadma Batodi Kashyap was killed in an encounter on February 4 he family of an alleged Maoist, killed in an encounter with the Bastar police earlier this month, has said he was a farmer with no Maoist links and he was killed in a “fake encounter.” Bastar Inspector-General of Police S.R.P. Kalluri had said Hadma Batodi Kashyap, of Sunga village under the Mardoom police limits of Bastar district, was killed in a “fierce encounter” on the morning of February 4 and a country-made gun was recovered. However, Hadma Kashyap’s family has said he was picked up by the police from his house in the early hours of February 3.
“Around 25 policemen surrounded our house. Six of them entered it and asked my husband to show them a way out of the village. When my husband refused, they gagged him and took him along with them,” said Galo Kashyap, wife of Hadma.
