RAIPUR: Maoists killed a sarpanch and deputy sarpanch leaving a ward corporator grievously injured at a ‘jan adalat’ convened by rebels on intervening night of Wednesday at Maoist hotbed Bijapur district in Bastar region. According to the information, Maoists suspected that the sarpanch of Gudsakal village Sukhdev Negi and deputy sarpanch of village Bhatwada Asaram Modiyami were working against them as police informers.
The incident took place near Bhairamgarh when about 150 Maoists walked in the village and convened ‘jan adalat’ calling all villagers including the sarpanch deputy sarpanch and ward corporator of Chihaka village Kirsuram. Accusing them of acting as police informers, Maoists thrashed them in front of the villagers which caused death of sarpanch and deputy sarpanch while Kirsuram was severely injured and was admitted in hospital. Later, after few hours police were informed and bodies were recovered.
