RAIPUR: Maoists shot at a Congressman and his wife in Chhattisgarh`s Sukma district and killed two villagers in Dantewada district on Monday, the second anniversary of the Jeeram valley attack. Thirty-eight people, including senior Congress functionaries Mahendra Karma and V C Shukla, had died in the 2013 attack. Congressman Podiyam Sukka and his wife sustained bullet injuries in Monday`s attack. The couple were admitted to a hospital in Bhadrachalam in Telangana. Sukka underwent a surgery, but his condition remained unstable.
His wife was said to be stable. The police said the rebels suspected Sukka was supporting the anti-Maoist movement. In Dantewada district, Maoists barged into the houses of Faraspal village resident Sukku Patel and Gondpal resident Chittaranjan, and killed them with sharp weapons.
