MUNGER: Jamui police foiled a Maoists plan to attack government and even private establishments on Thursday night. Jamui SP Jayant Kant on Friday said on a tip-off that that top brass of CPI (Maoist) with their 60 associates had assembled at a secret place in the forest under Lakshmipur under Barhat police stations in Jamui district, a special task force (STF) comprising CRPF jawans including Cobra and district police was constituted. But before the special task force constituted reached there, the top brass of the Maoists including Pravesh Da, Chirag Da and Arvind Da with their 60 associates managed to escape with their arms and ammunitions leaving a few including two muskets, 17 pieces of ceilings (a kind of bullet-proof coat), 55 whistle codes (a kind of bullet-proof vest), five magazine pouches,100 handbills making strong appeal to the voters to boycott upcoming assembly polls or face dire consequences and 40 banners in support of the appeal made in the handbills targetting government officials and political leaders.
The SP said two associates of the banned outfit Md Guddu, son of Md Mustaqa, and Md Sajjad, son of Md Zulfikar Alam, were nabbed while trying to flee from the site adding all the objectionable materials were seized by the police. The SP said round-the-clock search operations in and around the forest and hill areas under Lakshmipur, Barhat and Charkapatthar police stations by the special task force (STF) is going on. In another case, police seized one country-made pistol, two magazines,18 live cartridges, two mobile phone sets from the houses of Md Rahim Khan and Md Miraj of village Adsar under the Jamui Town police station
