KANNUR: As part of its precautionary measures against possible Maoists attack, Kerala’s internal security wing is gearing up for a thorough investigation into the Maoist menace. Local police and Special branch have been given instructions to collect the details of people who covertly and overtly help the Maoist. As a follow-up to this, police have been keeping a close watch on certain social workers and people having strong relationship with Left-affiliated organisations with extremist ideologies.
People who support Maoists through social networking sites, those who help them financially and people with former connections to extremists groups directly and indirectly have been brought under the police scanner. The Intelligence report is that certain government officials are helping Maoists and certain bigwigs in society including regional political leaders are arranging hideouts for them. The relatives of Maoists now in jail as well as migrant labourers are also have been brought under observation.
