Bihar Patna: Two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and four others injured in a landmine blast in Bihar early this morning. The blast took place between Jamui, where voting is being held in the third phase of Lok Sabha election, and Munger. The blast took place at around 4 am this morning when the jeep of the CRPF personnel, who were on patrolling duty, was blown up. The injured jawans have been rushed to Munger. The Naxals, who have boycotted these elections, are believed to be behind this blast.

Eleven bombs found in two Bihar constituencies
Patna: Eleven bombs planted by Maoists in Gaya and Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar were found Wednesday by security forces, police said. Gaya’s Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Tiwari said five “cane bombs” were recovered from Banke Bazaar area and near Sherghati. In Aurangabad, six similar bombs were found near Aruara and Pathakbigha village and other places.

Chhattisgarh: Naxals open fire at security forces in Bastar
Raipur, Apr 10: Naxals opened fire at security forces near ten polling booths in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-hit Bastar Parliamentary seat, where around 30 per cent of the electorate cast their votes till noon. Besides, a huge haul of explosives, including 15 IEDs and three pressure bombs, were today recovered by security forces from separate places, averting a massive strike by the ultras in the insurgency-hit region. “Naxals opened fire on security forces near around ten polling booths while voting was underway there. No injury or casualty was reported in the incidents,” a senior police official told PTI.
Rebels fled to the forest after security personnel launched retaliatory attack on them, he said. The polling booths where firing was reported are – Korra and Amirgarh in Sukma district, Samoli and Thanikarka booths in Dantewada district, Nednar booth of Narayanpur district, Padeli and Raigabodi in Kondagaon, he said.

Naxals, security forces exchange fire in Gadchiroli
A minor skirmish was reported between security forces and Naxals in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district in the afternoon. Naxals opened fire on election officials and security personnel near Gardewada in Etapalli Tehsil in Gadchiroli. No casualties have been reported so far. After retaliatory fire from security forces, the Naxals fled into the forest. The security personnel thwarted their plan to run away with the EVM machines.

Suspected Maoists torch mobile phone tower
Suspected Maoists set ablaze a mobile phone tower of a private telecom giant at Gannavaram village in Bhadrachalam mandal shortly after Wednesday midnight. The incident occurred about 25 km away from the temple town of Bhadrachalam. It comes just 20 days ahead of the general elections in the district slated for April 30. Sources said that a group of suspected rebels set afire the battery room and other vital equipment of the mobile phone tower after pouring petrol on the components at the cell site in the village around 1.30 a.m. Panel boards, batteries and other transmission apparatus were completely damaged in the incident.
The incident came to light in the early hours of Thursday when some local villagers noticed the burnt equipment lying at the cell site. The cellular phone services in the coverage area of the damaged cell site were reportedly paralysed following the incident. The suspected rebels left behind a poster in the name of Maoist district committee near the damaged cell site. Sources said that the poster contained slogans denouncing elections, Opencast Mines, Operation Green Hunt and Polavaram project.

Maoist calls 12 hour general strike on April 16
Imphal, April 10: Maoist Communist Party, Manipur today claimed that the bomb found near sitting MP Dr, Meinya’s residence was planted by its demolition team. Blaming the MP for misused of MP local area fund during the last 10 years and for defying the political strike called, the Moast said that there will be 12 hours general strike from 5 am to 5 pm of April 16. It further said that the party has banned all activities related to the upcoming Lok Sabha poll.

Naxals trigger explosions in Jharkhand before polling
Ranchi: Maoists exploded a series of landmines in the forests of Latehar district and exchanged gunfire with security personnel early on Thursday before the polling began for the Chatra Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand. The landmines were exploded at around 1.30 am, half a km from a picket under Barwadih police station, Latehar Superintendent of Police Michael S Raj told PTI. A brief gun battle also took place, he said. However, there was no casualty.

…Special cells of state Anti-Naxal Operation (ANO) have been also activated in the city to ensure front organizations of Naxals are kept under check. Joint commissioner of police Sanjay Saxena stated each police station would entrusted with the security of polling stations within limits along with additional forces they have been provided. “We also have made requisition for more vehicles,” he said.

Maoist camp in Nayagarh forest
There have been reports of a Maoist camp in the dense forest in Badasilinga panchayat of Gania block in Nayagarh district. The area where the Maoists have put up their camp comes under Daspalla Assembly constituency, reports said. Asked about the reports, Nayagarh SP Bhagyadhara Behera said the the Special Intelligence unit in the district had no inputs or information on this.
